10 Things that make me happy

my friend, Peter from Ireland asked us to blog this week, 10 things that make us happy, so here’s my list.

1. being alive

2. Music. I love music. it makes me happy, it feels good, it sets moods, changes moods, makes me dance, can relax me, unstress me, hype me up, etc etc

3.Listening to NEIL Morrison on Cfox radio between 10 – 3pm daily. Why? Because he’s cool, he plays my songs sometimes when i request things, he does a great segment called ‘The 90’s at Noon’, and I learn a ton of trivia stuff about songs and bands and I love that. He also doesn’t talk down to the listener, or fill the airwaves with idle mindless chatter like the morning or evening drive slots.

4. Taking photographs. i love shooting. What i love shooting most is architecture, industrial objects that i can zoom in on and make look like art pieces, and concert photography, although i’m not very good at the low light action thing yet! but i love the excitement of it.

5. knitting. I knit Comfort Dolls for kids in Africa, as well as for my own charity to use – i take a photo of a band or musican holding a doll, get them to autograph an index card and auction both card and photo off – send the proceeds to World Vision or Icross Canada The last photo I did was with Seether and the fans managed to raise $715 dollars! $300 for the photo and an additional $415 just through donations!! that made me so happy i was nearly in tears.

6. my partner.

7. having enough. i’m not always happy, but i am content. I have enough; enough to eat, enough to wear, enough to do what i want for things like small summer vacations. i have a car -its not new but i dont want a new one. i dont crave excitement or attention or love.. i have what i need in all departments which is not easy for most people these days.

8. thinking about special events in my life makes me happy. 

- my U2 concert in Portland December 05 – front row. My first time doing general admission at any show, ever, surrounded by 15 of my closest U2 ‘fruitcake’ friends, some from as far away as Belgium! yes… all the way to Portland. Close enough to lean over and tie Edge’s shoe laces together if not for the security guy.  It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.

-Thinking about some of the musicians i’ve met through my charity project and how the special ones stand out; Tom Cochrane, Seether, Paul Rodgers just to name a few. Amazing people musicians are – most have little or no ego, or keep it firmly in check. Most are pretty down to earth normal people.

 

 

9. Sunshine.

10. real letters in my mailbox! remember those? ever get any? email is great, so is blogging… but nothing beats the feel of real paper in your hand, the ability to fold it up along the same creases and put it in your bag, pocket, sock drawer.. and take it out and read it again and again.. watch it get old and worn from handling. its’ priceless.
